ASSOCIAZIONE MINERARIA ITALIANA
By Stefano Cao

Assomineraria, the Italian Petroleum and Mining Industry Association, represents both companies operating in the national territory in the exploration and production of oil and natural gas and companies supplying equipment and services to the petroleum upstream industry. The Association , which was founded in 1917, is part of Confindustria – The Italian manufacturer’s syndicate.
During the Offshore Mediterranean Conference OMC 2005 Assomineraria will present the wide range of activities and engagements in which it is currently involved.

FROM EXPLORATION TO P3 TO P2 TO P1 RESERVES BY UNLOCKING THE POWER OF TECHNOLOGY
By Micheal Economides

This workshop is aimed at highlighting the role played by technology on the effective capability of the oil industry to discover and exploit the hydrocarbon resources from exploration to the various steps of development throughout the entire life of the production assets.

INTSOK PRESENTATION
INTSOK PRESENTATION
By Einar Holmefjord

INTSOK will focus upon Innovation and Advanced Technology in a session called: “Optimized Oil and Gas Production based on utilization of Innovative, Advanced Technologies ". There will be 8 different presentations (10 - 15 minutes each ) from companies that have been very instrumental in building up the competence, technology and experience that has been fundamental for enhancing the oil and gas production in the North Sea.

European Oil and Gas
Innovation Forum
Technology for a Sustainable Energy Future

EUROGIF, the European Oil and Gas Innovation Forum, was formed in 1996 by major companies and national industry associations, representing more than 2500 organisations of the European Oil and Gas manufacturing, supply and service industry.
The EUROGIF mission is to stimulate innovation, pan-European collaboration and technological progress to improve the European industry competitiveness within the context of sustainable development, with the support of the EU funding to R & D.

CANADIAN EMBASSY
OUTLOOK FOR THE CANADIAN ENERGY INDUSTRY AND PROSPECTS FOR INVESTMENTS
By Claude Drzymala, Senior Energy Advisor Industry Canada
The paper provides an assessment of the Canadian upstream oil and natural gas industry from both a current and forward-looking perspective. Strong investment will continue and annually, the Canadian oil industry will continue to spend $55 - 60 billion throughout ten Canadian provinces and two territories.
The industry is currently reinvesting at record levels to meet North America's rising need for energy and continues to develop new technological solutions to increase its efficiency and reduce costs.

The Alberta Oilsands resource - comparable to Saudi Arabia in the size of its reserves-i.e 300 billion barrels deposits is increasingly recognized as a strategic source of North American energy supply. After 30 years of commercial production, the industry is now entering into a third wave of development, one that could see production increasing more than twofold to five million barrels a day, or 16% of North American demand by 2020.

THE ENI’S RESPONSE TO THE ENVIRONMENTAL EMERGENCIES IN THE MEDITERRANEAN BASIN.
By Fabrizio D’Adda
The accident in oil, oil products and chemical sea transportation occurred outside the Mediterranean Sea (Erika, Prestige, etc.) heightened at the different level (EU; Member States; companies;) the concern that similar event might occur in the Mediterranean basin. Due to its closeness and limited water exchange, the risk for pollution in the area need a particular attention and rapid response from an oil company like Eni. This is the reason why Eni decided to enlarge the efforts to constraint the possible emergencies coming from the sea transportation with a specific project.

SPE WORKSHOP – The Society of Petroleum Engineers, Italy Section
WASTE DISPOSAL BY INJECTION TECHNIQUES
Subsurface waste disposal by injection techniques is a process more and more used in the oil and gas operations to securely dispose of drilling and production residuals. The basic principle is that the waste to be discarded is properly mixed with water and then injected into suitable deep geological formations. This technology is being increasingly used all around the world and, provided the right conditions are met, enormous quantities of wastes can be safely disposed in such a way.
The aim of this workshop is to highlight, following the field cases presented, the main aspects of the process, such as the regulations side, the operational and technical issues as well as its advantages and disadvantages with respect to other waste related technologies (treatment, etc.).
