Assomineraria, the Italian Petroleum and Mining Industry Association, represents both companies operating in the national territory in the exploration and production of oil and natural gas and companies supplying equipment and services to the petroleum upstream industry. The Association , which was founded in 1917, is part of Confindustria – The Italian manufacturer’s syndicate.
During the Offshore Mediterranean Conference OMC 2005 Assomineraria will present the wide range of activities and engagements in which it is currently involved.

This workshop is aimed at highlighting the role played by technology on the effective capability of the oil industry to discover and exploit the hydrocarbon resources from exploration to the various steps of development throughout the entire life of the production assets.

INTSOK will focus upon Innovation and Advanced Technology in a session called: “Optimized Oil and Gas Production based on utilization of Innovative, Advanced Technologies ". There will be 8 different presentations (10 - 15 minutes each ) from companies that have been very instrumental in building up the competence, technology and experience that has been fundamental for enhancing the oil and gas production in the North Sea.

EUROGIF, the European Oil and Gas Innovation Forum, was formed in 1996 by major companies and national industry associations, representing more than 2500 organisations of the European Oil and Gas manufacturing, supply and service industry.
The EUROGIF mission is to stimulate innovation, pan-European collaboration and technological progress to improve the European industry competitiveness within the context of sustainable development, with the support of the EU funding to R & D.

The Alberta Oilsands resource - comparable to Saudi Arabia in the size of its reserves-i.e 300 billion barrels deposits is increasingly recognized as a strategic source of North American energy supply. After 30 years of commercial production, the industry is now entering into a third wave of development, one that could see production increasing more than twofold to five million barrels a day, or 16% of North American demand by 2020.
